This course provides students with an overview of offender rehabilitation. It examines the “nothing works” debate in corrections and reviews the empirical literature on the effectiveness of offender rehabilitation. Topics may include the various treatment approaches undertaken to reduce offending; treatment of specific offender subgroups such as substance abusers, violent offenders, sex offenders, female offenders, and young offenders; and the characteristics of effective programs. Prerequisites: CC100 or CC102.
